United Postal Stationery Society

The United Postal Stationery Society (UPSS) is a public, non-profit organization of collectors of whole things established in the United States.

History

The organization arose on July 1, 1945, from the merger of the Postal Card Society of America, which had existed since 1891, and the International Postal Stationery Society, founded in 1939.

Description

The society currently has about 1,000 members. The society holds regular auctions and sales. It regularly awards outstanding exhibits. Society members have access to the journals published by the society for over 30 years online, as well as high-resolution scans of all the printing plates used in the production of U.S. stamped envelopes.

Printed Organ

The society’s printed organ has been called Postal Stationery (Whole Stuff) since 1949. The magazine publishes articles on new issues of U.S. and international one-pieces, as well as articles on rare and unusual one-pieces.

Other publications

The Society has been actively involved in whole-objects print publications in the form of guides, catalogs, and manuscripts since 1955. In particular, it has prepared and published a number of catalogs of whole things of the United States and of certain regions and countries within the sphere of American interests and influence.
