MomsRising

The MomsRising Project is one of the largest social projects in the United States. The main participants of the project are American moms trying to change the country so that America would be more comfortable for children and their families. Its website has already reached 1 million registered participants and the number is constantly growing.

Most initiatives focus on gender equality, women’s rights and family rights. All of these projects come together under the acronym “M.O.T.H.E.R.S.”. The first letter “M” refers to maternity leave issues. MomsRising believes that paid leave gives children a healthy start and helps balance the family budget. The letter “O,” refers to the open and accommodating work schedule that parents with children need. “T” or “Tasty and Nutritious Food for kids,” includes teaching parents how to prepare healthy and wholesome lunches for their children. The letter “H” is an initiative that has been a tremendous success because its goal is affordable health care for families. In March 2010, U.S. President Barack Obama signed the Citizen’s Health Care Act into law, which was a big event for the organization.

The next “E” refers to early childhood education, such as kindergarten and elementary school. The main goal of the initiative, is to provide families with an affordable and quality education. “R: Realistic and Fair Wages” addresses the problem of low wages for women, and fights for gender equality. Finally, the letter “S,” an initiative demanding sick pay. 80% of low-wage workers in America can’t even get one paid sick day. MomsRising aims to change those numbers, and get better treatment for workers.

MomsRising is an incredibly successful and effective company that continues to expand and dream of a better future.
