Get Involved

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS!

Contact us at caravan@ifairtrade.net to get involved

Everyone is welcome! Even if you would like to come for a smaller portion of the ride by all means come! The organization of the ride is moving along quite well but we could still use some help in coordinating food, accommodation and events along the route. We have structured the planning of the ride around several different tasks and responsibilities for organizing different components of the ride which are described individually below. Please contact us if you would like to help, or know someone who might be helpful, with one or more of these tasks or become a community liaison. Individuals will be grouped with others that are involved in organizing that portion of the ride…

Here are some of the ways that you can help:

Become a Community Liaison
Would you like to help coordinate and guide one of our stops in your community? We are looking for people who would like to act as liaisons in communities along our route. This would entail finding local sources and information valuable to other coordinators such as accommodation, food etc. We also need people to help coordinate venues and publicity for the Flying Rutabaga Circus Review.

We are also seeking activities along the route that might help facilitate trusting and cooperative links with the wide diversity of people we might encounter. This could include community events or volunteering on local farms etc.

These are some coordinating roles that need assistance. (*denotes that we could use more help in this area):

*Accommodation
We are currently looking for accommodation or billeting along for each stop on our ride. This can include halls, churches, backyards, campgrounds or farms etc. These individuals can also help coordinate camping equipment.

*Food and Kitchen
This involves arranging sources of food and kitchen equipment. This includes seeking donations of food and coordinating the kitchen which will be transported in our small support vehicle.

Fundraising
This involves finding funding and sponsorship from generous organizations and individuals. We need volunteers to help create some new ways to generate immediate cash, be it rider pledges, cash gifts, etc.

Ride Logistics/Mechanics
The more people who can repair and maintain bikes the better! We need people to help to gather as much bike parts/gear donations, new/used, tools, etc. as possible. We also need to provide brief trainings for the other riders.

Media
This involves developing press releases, arranging media contacts and acting as media liaisons.

Videographer/Documenter
We need individuals who'd be able to document the caravan in as many ways as possible. Also individuals who could update the website along the way with pictures and stories. Let us know if you have any equipment or possible borrowing privileges.
